Rest Stops

Rest Stops are “oases” along the Tour route where visitors can enjoy food, drinks, and a chance to sit and savor the beauty of SML in the fall. Look for the distinctive blue and white Home Tour Rest Stop signs in front of our stops during Tour weekend.

Our 2022 rest stops are listed below, and are continually updated so please check back for the complete list stops the week of the home tour.

A.  ML Realty – 1037 Whitetail Dr., Huddleston, VA  24104 (540) 297 – 3679

Founded in 1999 by Mary Lou McDonald, owner and principal broker, ML Realty emphasizes quality service and a top-shelf experience for every client, whether buying or selling.  Her team’s great relationships with other local business owners mean they can often give clients recommendations for home and dock construction, home improvement contractors, and interim rental housing.  They can provide lists of hospitals, doctors, dentists, restaurants and even assistance with your transition to assisted living, if needed.  A great stop during the tour, especially if you aren’t familiar with the Smith Mountain Lake area and all it has to offer.

B. Ramulose Ridge Vineyards – 3061 Hendricks Store Rd., Moneta, VA 24141 (540) 797 – 6056

Started in 2004, Ramulose Ridge is a small, family-run vineyard sited in gorgeous rolling fields of grape vines.  Home to a lovely tasting room & event space, it is the perfect venue for an intimate wine tasting with friends or a larger group gathering.  Stop by for a taste of their unique variety of wines (fun idea – pack & bring a picnic!) and enjoy the stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains while relaxing on their patio.  It’s a wonderful rest stop to stretch your legs and get refreshments during your Home Tour trek.

C. & D.  Smith Mountain Lake Coffee House

Locally owned SML Coffee House has become a treasured staple for area residents and guests alike.  Their flagship location is at Bridgewater Plaze, and — due to the popularity of their offerings — they recently opened two additional locations, one in the Food Lion Shopping Center and one in Eastlake Church.  They specialize in great coffee drinks, pastries, and sandwiches.  They use products from local Homestead Creamery and have fun names for their sandwiches and wraps that highlight their love of Smith Mountain Lake. They have graciously agreed to serve as rest stops for the home tour at the two locations listed below:

  • C.   Bridgewater Plaza–16430 Booker T. Washington Hwy., Moneta, (540) 346 – 2023
  • D.   Food Lion Shopping Center – 14807 Moneta Rd., Moneta, (540) 410 – 6001
