The Huffman Home 

The Huffman Home, located in Compass Cove off Scruggs Road on a quiet no-wake cove on the Roanoke River, was completed in October 2021. This 3900 sq. ft. home was designed for the homeowners to age in place and includes ample space throughout for wheelchair use, as well as zero-entry showers in both the owner’s suite and the main floor guest suite.  A walk-in pantry also was designed to accommodate an elevator if needed in the future.  

After entering through a leaded-glass front door with sidelights, the main living space features an open concept floor plan with hickory floors, a staircase with built-in shelves, and unique light fixtures.  A highlight of the home is the eclectic artwork throughout, which the homeowners purchased during their travels.   The living room has a large, stone-faced gas fireplace and a burgundy accent wall to highlight their artwork.  The massive kitchen island features a unique curved design and a matching drop ceiling, and the owner’s suite has a convenient walk-through closet for easy access to the laundry room.  The lower level features a rec room with a wet bar and another stone-faced gas fireplace, a second guest suite, and an office/craft/exercise room. The large dock is a gentle walk from the house and includes an entertainment area.
