2012 SML Charity Home Tour - Directions to Homes—By Land
Directions begin at center of Halesford Bridge, but other starting points may be used. There will be traffic directors to assist you at each home. Notify them if you or any passengers require handicapped assistance. Orange and black marker signs have been placed at all turns, but signs sometimes disappear. These directions take precedence.
1. Gray Home, 1105 Marina Lane, Huddleston
Starting at center of Halesford Bridge, drive north on Rte. 122, 2.4 mi. to first traffic light at Rte. 655 (Hendricks Store Rd.) and turn RIGHT. Rte. 655 becomes Rte. 654 (Radford Church Rd). Drive 4.1 miles to end at Rte. 608 (White House Rd.). Turn RIGHT and drive 2.8 miles to end at stop sign. Turn RIGHT onto SML Pkwy. (Rte 626) and drive 4.0 miles to Rte. 1301 (Gross Point Dr.). Turn RIGHT and drive 0.7 miles to RIGHT on Marina Lane.
2. Ervin Home, 435 Key West St., Moneta
Turn LEFT onto Gross Point Rd. and drive 0.7 mi. to SML Pkwy (Rte. 626). Turn LEFT and drive 4.0 miles to White House Rd. (Rte. 608, just past BP station). Turn LEFT and drive 2.8 miles to Radford Church Rd. Turn Left and drive 4.1 miles to traffic light at Rte. 122. Turn LEFT and drive 5.8 miles to traffic light at Scruggs Rd. (Rte. 616). Turn LEFT and drive 7.8 miles to Antler Ridge Rd. (Rte. 1328). Turn RIGHT and drive 0.2 miles to first LEFT at Key West St. (Rte. 1393). Turn LEFT and proceed to home.
3. Simmers Home, 450 Carrs Point La., Moneta
Return to Rte. 616 (Scruggs Rd.) and turn RIGHT. Drive 0.2 miles to angle LEFT at Ashmede Rd. (stay to left of Bernard’s Landing sign). Continue 0.5 miles to Carrs Point Lane. A traffic volunteer will meet you at this point with further instructions for parking.
4. Southall Home, 873 Compass Cove Cir., Moneta
RETURN to Ashmede Rd and drive 0.5 miles (away from Bernard's Landing) to Rte. 616 (Scruggs Rd.). Turn RIGHT and drive about 150 ft. to Compass Cove Dr. Turn RIGHT and drive 0.1 mi. to Compass Cove Circle. Turn RIGHT and drive about 0.3 miles to home.
5. Lilly Home, 328 Drue Circle, Wirtz
Return to Rte 616 and turn RIGHT. Drive 4.4 miles to Rte. 833 (Lovely Valley Rd.) and turn LEFT. Drive 2.4 miles to Rte. 670 (Burnt Chimney Rd.) and turn LEFT onto
Rte. 670. Drive 2.5 miles to Rte. 1308 (River Creek Rd.). Turn LEFT and drive 0.1 mile to Rte. 1309 (Drue Rd.) Turn RIGHT and drive 0.2 miles to Rte. 1310 (Drue Circle) and turn RIGHT to Lilly Home.
6. Nash Home, 289 Admirals Way, Glade Hill
Return to Rt. 1309 (Drue Rd.) and turn LEFT. Drive 0.2 miles to Rte. 1308 (River Creed Rd.). Turn LEFT and drive 0.1 mile to Rte. 670 (Burnt Chimney Rd.). Turn RIGHT and drive 5.0 miles to Rte. 834 (Brooks Mill Rd.). Turn LEFT and drive 3.9 miles to Rte. 655 (Webster Rd., at Crafts Church sign). Turn LEFT and drive 1.3 miles to Crafts Church Rd. (Note: there is a “Y” after 0.9 miles; stay to RIGHT to remain on Webster Rd.). Turn LEFT at Crafts Church Rd. and drive 1.1 miles to Rte. 1675 (Admirals Way, at Admirals Landing sign). Turn RIGHT and drive 0.3 miles to home.
7. Morrison Home, 74 Pine Bay Drive, Union Hall
Return to Crafts Church Rd. and turn LEFT. Drive 1.2 miles to Rte. 655 (Webster Rd.) and turn RIGHT. Drive 1.3 miles to stop sign at Rte. 834 (Brooks Mill Rd.) and turn LEFT. Drive 3.8 miles to stop sign at end of Rte. 834 and turn LEFT onto Rte. 40 (Old Franklin Tpk.). Drive 2.2 miles to Rte. 945 (Kemp Ford Rd.) and turn LEFT. Drive 1.5 miles to Rte. 663 (Dillards Hill Rd.) and turn RIGHT. Drive 3.0 miles to Summerwind Dr. and turn LEFT. Drive 0.7 miles to Pine Bay Dr., turn LEFT and drive 0.2 miles to home.
8. Lamendola Home, 54 Bayview Circle, Penhook
Return to Summerwind Drive, turn RIGHT and drive 0.8 miles to Rte 957 (Dillards Hill Rd.). Turn RIGHT and drive 3.0 miles to stop sign at Rte. 945 (Kemp Ford Rd.). Turn LEFT and drive 1.5 miles to Rte. 40 (Old Franklin Tpk.). Turn LEFT and drive 3.8 miles to Rte. 645 (Old Mountain Rd.--opposite Minute Market). Turn LEFT and drive 1.5 miles to end at Rte. 626 (Smith Mountain Rd.). Turn LEFT and drive 0.5 miles to Rte. 610 (Waters Edge Dr.--across fiom Waters Edge sign). Turn LEFT and drive 1.7 miles to Morgans Mill Dr. (at water tower). Turn RIGHT and drive 0.5 miles to Bayview Circle. Turn RIGHT to home.
To return to Rte. 122: Return to Rte. 40, and turn RIGHT. Drive to Rte. 834 (Brooks Mill Rd.) and turn RIGHT. Drive to end of Rte 834, at Rte. 616 (Scruggs Rd.) and turn LEFT. Drive to traffic light at Rte. 122.
